Adopt a School Nutrition Program
Angela Vieth is a member of the KIWANIS of KW, a City of Waterloo Councilor, small business owner and an active volunteer with the student nutrition program at Howard Robertson Public School in Kitchener. Angela volunteers as a shopper and in preparation and serving of the breakfast nutrition program to over 50 students every Monday morning. The Kiwanis of KW club has adopted both the Howard Robertson School and the Franklin Public School breakfast programs by supplying members as volunteers to assist with the program on a regular basis for each school for over 5 years. The club’s mission is “Serving the children of the world one child and one community at a time”.
Angela shared with us that the benefits of volunteering includes building a stronger sense of community among club members as well as positive experiences when engaging nutrition program participants in the community. Volunteering on a regular basis also allows the members the opportunity to see their financial support in action and allows them to understand and appreciate requests for additional investments the school community may need at different times because they already understand the school community and potential needs in advance of requests.
Thank you to all of the Kiwanis and other service clubs in Waterloo Region who support Nutrition for Learning to continue serving over 140 nutrition programs across Waterloo Region.
